Canstar Retirement Journey Calculator

Superannuation and how much money you need for retirement is not the easiest concept to articulate and it’s not something that’s tangible – it’s a future you problem, right? Canstar understood the complexities of building an engaging, yet compliant tool to educate their users on planning for retirement. They engaged GBST to design and implement a custom version of our Retirement Adequacy calculator and create something more unique to visually articulate how much you might need in retirement based on the lifestyle you want.

Canstar had the following project requirements. The calculator must:

• Allow a user to retrieve an estimate of their retirement position
• Assist users to plan for retirement by allowing users to select different lifestyle scenarios for retirement
• Be responsive across desktop, mobile and tablet and be AA compliant to WCAG 2.1 standards
• Meet the requirements of ASIC and included legislative updates

Our user experience (UX) experts, designed the illustrations by hand and based on your lifestyle scenario, the design changes. The underlying calculations use our base retirement adequacy engine and we ensure that this is reviewed and updated every year in line with legislative changes. The result is a friendly, compliant and engaging tool that gives users the confidence to understand their position and potential gap/surplus in retirement.
